Ingredients
Scale
Egg Mixture
- 5 large eggs
- ½ medium red bell pepper, chopped
- ½ medium green bell pepper, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Bacon and Cheese
- 8 slices bacon, fried
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Dough and Finishing
- 8 ounce crescent rolls (refrigerated, 1 can, 8 oz Pillsbury crescents)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ to prepare for baking the crescent ring.
- Cook Eggs: In a bowl, beat the 5 eggs with chopped red and green bell peppers, salt, and pepper. Heat a skillet, drain cooked bacon fat if using the same pan, then scramble the eggs just until set and still soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Crescent Dough: Lay out the crescent rolls on a piece of parchment paper in a star shape with the wide ends overlapping in the center.
- Add Fillings: Place one slice of fried bacon on each crescent triangle. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese around the ring over the wide ends. Evenly distribute the scrambled eggs around the ring, then top with the remaining cheese.
- Fold Dough: Carefully fold the pointed ends of each crescent over the filling toward the center to enclose the ingredients. Optionally, brush the entire ring with beaten egg for a golden color when baked.
- Bake: Transfer the parchment paper with the assembled ring to a large baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the crescent dough is cooked through and golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm to enjoy the flaky dough and melty cheese.
Notes
- Keep the dough cold until ready to assemble; cold dough is easier to handle and shapes better.
- Cook bacon and vegetables fully before assembling to avoid soggy dough.
- Scramble eggs just until set and still moist; they continue cooking in the oven to avoid dryness.
- You can customize fillings by swapping cheeses or adding cooked veggies or meats, but avoid overloading to ensure even baking.
- The ring can be assembled the night before, covered tightly and refrigerated; bake fresh in the morning.
- Serve warm for the best texture and flavor of crescent dough and melted cheese.
