Description

Christmas Tree Deviled Eggs are a festive and delicious appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings. These deviled eggs are enhanced with creamy avocado and a touch of Dijon mustard, piped into egg whites in a swirl to resemble Christmas trees, and topped with bright yellow bell pepper stars and red pepper 'ornaments' for a colorful and fun presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Egg Mixture

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ large ripe avocado
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes or red pepper pieces for garnish

Garnish

  • 1 large yellow bell pepper

Instructions

  1. Hard-cook the eggs: Cook the eggs according to your favorite method until fully hard-boiled, about 10 minutes if using stovetop boiling. Then cool them until safe to handle.
  2. Peel and cut eggs: Carefully peel the cooled eggs and slice them in half lengthwise, setting the whites aside.
  3. Prepare filling: Scoop the yolks into a bowl and mash them together with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and avocado until smooth. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Fill egg whites: Pipe or spoon the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves, swirling upward to create a tall shape resembling a Christmas tree. Sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes or place tiny red pepper pieces or pomegranate seeds on the filling to mimic ornaments.
  5. Add star toppers: Use a 1-inch star-shaped cookie cutter to cut 12 stars from the yellow bell pepper. Place one star atop each filled egg half as the tree topper.

Notes

  • For fuss-free hard-boiled eggs, use an Instant Pot or stovetop boiling for about 10 minutes.
  • Substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter filling.
  • Replace avocado with extra mayo if you prefer a classic deviled egg texture.
  • Use pomegranate seeds as an alternative to red pepper flakes for a burst of sweetness and color.
  • The yellow bell pepper stars can be pre-cut and stored in an airtight container in the fridge until assembly.
