Description
A delicious country-style side dish featuring crispy bacon, buttery ranch-seasoned potatoes, and fresh green beans, perfect for complementing any American meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 lb. green beans, fresh, trimmed
- 1 ½ lbs. yukon gold potatoes, baby, cut in half
Meat & Dairy
- 12 oz bacon, thick cut
- 4 tbsp butter
Seasonings
- 2 ½ tbsp ranch seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook Green Beans: Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook until they turn bright green and are tender, about 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and immediately place in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
- Cook Potatoes: After removing the green beans, add the potatoes to the boiling water and cook until fork tender, about 10 minutes. Drain carefully once done.
- Cook Bacon: While the potatoes cook, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bacon pieces and cook until browned and crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
- Brown Potatoes: Carefully add the drained potatoes to the skillet with the bacon drippings. Stir frequently to brown the potatoes evenly on all sides.
- Combine Ingredients: Reduce the heat to medium. Add butter, green beans, ranch seasoning, and garlic powder to the skillet. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
- Add Bacon & Season: Return the cooked bacon to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste, stirring to combine all flavors. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Use fresh green beans for best texture and flavor; frozen green beans can be used but may alter cooking times.
- Baby Yukon Gold potatoes are preferred for their creamy texture and quick cooking, but regular Yukon Gold potatoes can be cut smaller as a substitute.
- Ranch seasoning can be homemade or store-bought; adjust quantity based on preferred flavor intensity.
- For a lower fat option, use turkey bacon or reduce butter amount.
- Ensure to cool green beans in ice water to maintain their vibrant color and crispness.
