Description

Million Dollar Chicken is a flavorful baked chicken dish topped with a creamy, cheesy mixture enhanced by crispy bacon and crunchy almonds. This recipe delivers juicy chicken breasts covered in a rich topping, perfect to serve alongside rice, pasta, or vegetables for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 3 pounds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Topping

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions, divided
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, divided

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Dish and Bacon: Spray a 9x13x2 inch baking dish with cooking spray and preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook the bacon until crispy, chop it into small pieces, and set aside.
  2. Prepare Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts with a meat tenderizer until they are an even ½ inch thick. Season all sides evenly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Make Topping Mixture: In a bowl, combine the chopped bacon, softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, 2 tablespoons of sliced green onions, and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the prepared baking dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on top of each chicken breast.
  5. Bake Chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of green onions and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds over the baked chicken before serving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is fully cooked for safety and juiciness.
  • Swap sour cream with Greek yogurt for a healthier alternative.
  • Almonds add a nice crunch – to toast them lightly beforehand will enhance flavor.
  • For extra crispiness, cook bacon until very crispy and drain well.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or buttery pasta for a complete meal.
