Description

This festive Christmas Sangria combines seasonal fruits, aromatic spices, and a blend of sweet red wine, apple cider, and cranberry juice to create a refreshing holiday beverage perfect for gatherings. Easy to prepare and chill, it’s a delightful way to toast the season with friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 1.5 cups sliced apple
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 navel orange
  • 1 orange sliced

Liquids & Sweeteners

  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 cups unfiltered apple cider
  • 1 cup unsweetened 100% cranberry juice
  • 1 bottle sweet red wine of choice (750 ml)

Spices & Garnish

  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Cinnamon sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare Fruits: Slice the apples and orange, and gather fresh or frozen cranberries. Place them all into a large pitcher or punch bowl to form the fruity base of your sangria.
  2. Combine Liquids and Sweeteners: Add the sweet red wine, cranberry juice, unfiltered apple cider, lemon juice, and honey into the pitcher with the fruit. Stir thoroughly to mix all the flavors and dissolve the honey.
  3. Add Garnishes: Place fresh rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks on top of the mixture to infuse aromatic holiday flavors and visually enhance the sangria.
  4. Chill the Sangria: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight, allowing the flavors to meld and the sangria to become refreshingly cold.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Once chilled, stir gently before serving the sangria over ice in glasses. Garnish with additional fruit slices or rosemary if desired, and enjoy your festive holiday drink.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace the red wine with extra cranberry juice or grape juice.
  • Adjust the honey amount to your preferred sweetness level.
  • Use unfiltered apple cider for a richer flavor, but filtered cider can be used as a substitute.
  • If fresh rosemary is unavailable, thyme or a cinnamon stick alone can provide aromatic garnish.
  • Make the sangria a few hours ahead for best flavor infusion; overnight chilling enhances the taste significantly.
