Description

This Garlic Butter Lobster Tails recipe offers a luxurious and flavorful seafood dish perfect for a special dinner. Tender lobster meat is seasoned with a blend of spices, baked, and then broiled with a rich garlic butter sauce infused with fresh parsley and lemon zest, creating a succulent and aromatic experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Lobster and Seasoning

  • 4 lobster tails
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon paprika, divided
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, divided
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • to serve - lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the lobster tails.
  2. Prepare Lobster Tails: Using kitchen scissors, cut down the back of each lobster shell until you reach the tail, making sure to leave the base intact. Gently pull the shell back and lift the meat on top of the shell. Remove the black vein if present and rinse under cold water if necessary.
  3. Season Lobster: Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet with a rack. In a small bowl, mix ¼ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning evenly over the lobster tails.
  4. Bake Lobster Tails: Bake the seasoned lobster tails in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until the meat is opaque and cooked through.
  5. Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: While baking, melt the butter and combine it with chopped parsley, grated garlic, lemon zest, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Stir until fully blended.
  6. Apply Butter and Broil: Remove 3 tablespoons of the garlic butter mixture and set aside. Brush the remaining butter mixture over the baked lobster tails. Switch your oven to the broiler setting on high and broil the lobster tails for 3 minutes to caramelize the top.
  7. Serve: Remove the lobster tails from the oven and drizzle the reserved garlic butter over them. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Use kitchen shears carefully to avoid cutting the flesh beneath the shell.
  • Don’t overcook lobster tails; they become tough if baked too long.
  • Fresh garlic provides the best flavor; substitute with ½ teaspoon garlic powder if necessary.
  • Broiling at the end gives a beautiful golden finish but watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Lemon wedges enhance the flavor—feel free to add a squeeze before eating.
  • For easier shell removal, cool the lobster tails slightly after broiling.
