Ingredients
Scale
Honey Ginger Simple Syrup
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 medium piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Lemonade
- 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (preferably Meyer lemons)
- 4 cups water
- Fresh mint leaves
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Make Honey Ginger Simple Syrup: In a small pot or tea kettle, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat, then add honey and sliced ginger. Let it steep for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Prepare Lemon Juice: While the syrup is steeping, juice the lemons and pour the juice into a large pitcher.
- Add Water and Ice: Add 4 cups of cold water and ice cubes into the pitcher with the lemon juice to chill the mixture.
- Combine Syrup and Lemonade: Strain the ginger pieces out of the honey-ginger syrup and pour the syrup into the pitcher. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Finish and Serve: Add fresh mint leaves to the pitcher for aroma and taste. Refrigerate or serve immediately over ice for a refreshing beverage.
Notes
- Use Meyer lemons if possible for a sweeter, less acidic flavor.
- If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, allow the syrup to steep for longer than 20 minutes.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
- Fresh mint leaves enhance the aroma but can be omitted if unavailable.
- This lemonade can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
