Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Coating
- 2 (10 oz.) bags Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers or white candy melts
Cookies and Decorations
- 24 Double Stuf Golden Oreos
- 168 black sugar pearl sprinkles
- 24 orange Tic Tacs
- 2 ounces sour punch straws, cut in 2-inch pieces
- 48 M&Ms
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheets: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside to keep the cookies from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
- Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat at 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Coat Oreos: Using a fork, dip each Golden Oreo completely into the melted white chocolate, ensuring an even coating. Lift the cookie out and gently tap the fork on the edge of the bowl a few times to remove excess chocolate. Place the coated Oreos onto the prepared baking sheets in small batches to avoid hardening before decorating.
- Decorate Faces: While the coating is still soft, press two black sugar pearls on each Oreo for the eyes. Place one orange Tic Tac in the center for the nose. Underneath, arrange five black sugar pearls in a curved line to form a smiling mouth.
- Make Earmuffs: Attach a 2-inch piece of sour punch straw horizontally above the eyes as the earmuff strap. Hold in place for about 10 seconds until the chocolate firms slightly. Then, adhere one M&M on each side of the strap as the earmuff pads, using matching colors for each side.
- Chill to Set: Repeat the decoration process with the remaining Oreos. Once all are decorated, chill the baking sheets in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or until the chocolate is completely set and firm.
Notes
- Store these Oreo Snowman Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking and preserve the decorations.
- To make a smaller batch, melt only a portion of the white chocolate wafers as needed to avoid waste and keep the remaining wafers fresh for future use.
- If sugar pearls for the mouth are unavailable, try black confetti sprinkles or mini chocolate chips as alternatives.
- Orange sprinkles can substitute for orange Tic Tacs to create the snowman’s nose. You can also find specialized snowman cookie decoration kits for added fun.
- For earmuffs, replace M&Ms with Skittles, peppermint candies, or Spree candy. The sour punch straw strap can be swapped with Twizzlers pull n peel for variety.
- Consider using cookie icing in black and orange to draw faces instead of candy decorations for a creative touch.
- Try different Oreo flavors such as Mega Stuf, mint, peanut butter, or peppermint for unique variations of these snowman cookies.
- Add a lollipop stick to turn cookies into festive treats perfect for gifting or party favors. Wrap in cellophane and tie with holiday ribbon or twine for presentation.
